Description
The ADEMCO 5140XM-24ADA package incorporates the use of a supervised power supply module
as an accessory for ADEMCO model 5140XM control and is designed for use in commercial fire
installations. The 5140XM-24ADA package is specifically designed to meet ADA (Americans
with Disabilities Act) requirements for high intensity strobe operation for the hearing
impaired. 3.4 Amps of power at 24V is generated by the power supply module and provides
1.7A for each of two on-board notification appliance circuits. In addition the combination
fire and burglary control provides 2.3A of power at 12VDC for support of burglary devices.
The 5140XM-24ADA supports eight standard Style B fully programmable zones. An on-board
2-wire multiplex circuit extends zone capacity to 64 zones for larger project
requirements. The system, when extended to the multiplexing level, supports integrated
detection devices, all reporting to the central station individually as to alarm, trouble
and restoral conditions. For Point ID communications, use ADEMCO format "Contact
ID".
Fire zones can be programmed for manual fire alarm, automatic fire alarm with alarm
verification, water flow alarm and sprinkler system supervisory zones.
Burglary zone types are: entry/exit, perimeter, interior follower, day trouble/night
alarm, 24-hour silent panic, 24-hour audible panic, and 24-hour auxiliary.
The 5140XM-24ADA supports up to 99 user codes for enhanced end user security. All
events can be logged in a buffer and can be reviewed at the console, or at the central
station through V-link downloading software. The log holds the last 224 events.
The 5140XM-24ADA has one built-in supervised communicator module, and also includes a
second supervised fire communicator module (5140DLM).
The control panel provides removable terminal blocks to accommodate field connections
and to allow quick and easy changing of the main control board, should servicing be
required.
To reduce false alarms from smoke detectors, the alarm verification feature can be
programmed. This applies to the 2-wire smoke detectors on zones one and two, as well as
the addressable smoke detectors on the polling loop. This feature resets the smoke
detector after an initial trigger and looks again to verify that the threshold of the
alarm level has been reached. A growing number of municipalities require this option.
Check with the proper authority in your area before programming.
An auxiliary form C programmable relay is standard. Contact rating is 2.8 amps at
28VDC. The relay can be programmed for activation on an alarm, supervisory or trouble
condition. Up to 2,18AH batteries can be housed in the 5140XM-24ADA enclosure.
The control supports 16 custom English language consoles, depending upon power
requirements, with either a grey exterior for burglary or red exterior for fire (6139 and
6139R). Before choosing a console, check with local authorities. Some municipalities may
require that fire system annunciators be red in color. These consoles have a 2-line
alphanumeric display with 16 characters each to report system status using custom
descriptions. It also has a built-in user's manual, where the pressing of any function key
for 5 seconds will prompt instructions to scroll on the display.
